Senator Ossoff: “This historic Federal investment will create Georgia jobs, support U.S. national security, and bring more advanced manufacturing to our state”
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA) announced the Absolics’ Covington facility will receive $75 million in federal investments thanks to the CHIPS and Science Act, bringing total federal investments to as much as $175 million. Today’s $75 million investment will support development of the Covington facility, creating 210 new Georgia jobs. The Senators visited Absolics in May to celebrate the beginning of negotiations to secure this $75 million award. Senator Warnock is a member of the Commerce committee, which had jurisdiction over the CHIPS and Science Act and was involved with the legislation from its inception.
“The CHIPS and Science Act committed billions of dollars to invigorating the American semiconductor industry, the backbone of modern technology,” said Senator Reverend Warnock “Thanks to these federal investments, which Senator Ossoff and I proudly helped secure, Georgians are charting the path of our nation’s future. That’s why I fought to make sure a variety of manufacturers like Absolics were eligible for federal support that is already helping strengthen our state’s economy. I remain committed to building a stronger economy that supports Georgia workers and equips them with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive.”
“This is a great day for Georgia’s economic development. When Senator Reverend Warnock and I set out to pass the bipartisan Chips Act through Congress, it was with this exact goal in mind. This historic Federal investment will create Georgia jobs, support U.S. national security, and bring more advanced manufacturing to our state,” said Senator Ossoff.

The Senator was elected by his colleagues to sit on the Conference committee to negotiate a compromise between the House and Senate versions of the CHIPS and Science Act. Senator Warnock sent multiple letters of support of Absolics receiving federal CHIPS funding, pressuring the U.S. Department of Commerce to put these resources towards Georgia jobs and economic development.
