Senator Reverend Warnock: “I am glad to see communities across Georgia continuing to benefit from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law I was proud to champion”
Washington D.C. — Today, U.S Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff announced new federal resources to upgrade Georgia’s public transportation infrastructure through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The Senators said Georgia will receive $122,457,266 in Federal resources for upgrades across the state in Fiscal Year 2024, authorized by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The federal funding will help communities across Georgia maintain and operate trains, buses, and ferries; upgrade stations and tracks; plan and design new public transportation corridors; and provide access for seniors and riders with disabilities.
“I am glad to see communities across Georgia continuing to benefit from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law I was proud to champion. These funds will provide critical transportation infrastructure upgrades that will help connect low-income, low-mobility Georgians to commerce and with each other,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “Senator Ossoff and I will continue working to deliver more investments for our state’s infrastructure and transportation systems.”
“Senator Warnock and I are delivering these resources to help families get around Georgia and connect more people with health care, jobs, school, and more,” said Senator Ossoff. “Our bipartisan infrastructure law will deliver long-overdue upgrades to Georgia’s infrastructure for years to come.”
Federal funding will be delivered directly to urban transit agencies in Atlanta, Augusta-Richmond County, Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia, Columbus, and Savannah:
- Atlanta: $84,136,890
- Augusta-Richmond County: $2,029,797
- Chattanooga/Northwest Georgia: $2,591,030
- Columbus: $1,589,665
- Savannah: $2,299,486
The remaining funding will go to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), which will then allocate funding to smaller localities across Georgia.
In January, the Senators delivered new federal funding to multiple Georgia school districts to purchase new clean energy school buses through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Bus Awards program. Senators Warnock and Ossoff continue delivering resources to communities across Georgia through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law; as of January 2024, nearly $10 billion has been invested in the state thanks to this historic legislation.
