Senator Reverend Warnock: I am proud to have made passage of the historic Inflation Reduction Act possible and am even prouder to support efforts to ensure Georgia is on the cutting edge of the solar market and becomes the premier destination for America’s domestic clean energy manufacturers

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) released the following statement in applauding the announcement that Qcell’s Cartersville factory will receive a $1.45 billion federal loan. This loan was made possible thanks to the Inflation Reduction Actlegislation championed by Senator Warnock. According to Qcells, the Cartersville factory will be the country’s first fully integrated solar supply chain. The Cartersville site is expected to create approximately 1,200 construction jobs and will support, upon completion, 1,950 specialized operations jobs.

“Qcells has already made history with their investments in Georgia’s clean energy economy, and this newest federal investment made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act will continue to propel our state forward. With solar energy production on the rise, Georgia is continuing to reap the benefits of our bipartisan legislation,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “I am proud to have made passage of the historic Inflation Reduction Act possible and am even prouder to support efforts to ensure Georgia is on the cutting edge of the solar market and becomes the premier destination for America’s domestic clean energy manufacturers.

Senator Reverend Warnock proudly championed the Inflation Reduction Act, which made today’s announcement possible. The law provided tax credits to the domestic solar manufacturing sector. The law also included production tax credits to accelerate U.S. manufacturing of solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, and critical minerals processing, estimated to invest $30 billion. This includes language from Senator Warnock’s Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act, which would provide tax credits to the domestic solar manufacturing sector. This provision would benefit solar manufacturers in Georgia such as Qcells.
