In Georgia, the number of female farmers has grown 30% between 2012 – 2017 according to the most recent Census of Agriculture

This is just the latest action Senator Warnock has taken to champion Georgia’s farmers

Washington D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) joined Senators Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Tina Smith (D-MN) to reintroduce a bipartisan resolution establishing March 23, 2023, as National Women in Agriculture Day. Senator Warnock is celebrating the tens of thousands of female Georgia farmers in celebrating National Women in Agriculture day. In Georgia, the number of female farmers has grown 30% between 2012 – 2017 according to the most recent Census of Agriculture. Last year the resolution to designate March 23, 2022, as Women in Agriculture Day was unanimously adopted by the Senate.

A stalwart champion for Georgia’s farmers, Senator Warnock has long prioritized helping Georgia’s farmers navigate economic challenges and getting farmers the federal support they need to grow and thrive. Senator Warnock fought to secure over $5 billion in relief funding in the Inflation Reduction Act for farmers in Georgia and across the country—including $3.1 billion for economically-distressed borrowers in addition to $2.2 billion for borrowers who have experienced discrimination by USDA. Additionally, Senator Warnock is focused on expanding resources to support export opportunities for Georgia’s farmers and agribusinesses. Senator Warnock is also working on expanding access to credit and technical assistance for beginning farmers and underserved farmers, protecting vital federal nutrition benefits and boosting Georgia institutions like Fort Valley State University and the University of Georgia through USDA’s agriculture research and extension program.
