Washington D.C. — This week, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) announced the application is open for Georgians to make congressionally directed spending requests in the annual government funding process for Georgia-based projects, a process previously known as earmarks. Every spring, Senator Warnock’s office begins soliciting input for government funding requests from people and communities in every corner of Georgia, working diligently to secure direct funding for projects that benefit people across the state—especially projects that would benefit rural and underserved communities, and projects that address key local priorities like improving access to affordable health care, water and sewer infrastructure repair, tackling climate change, supporting the state’s military installations and communities, strengthening public transportation and mobility, enhancing public safety, and more.

“As a voice for Georgia in the Senate, I spend time with Georgians in every corner of the state discussing how I can help improve their lives and their communities,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “The Congressionally Directed Spending process allows me to send federal dollars to where they’re needed most: That includes funding for low-income housing, infrastructure and sewer, workforce development programs, public safety and more. I’m pleased to begin the process of securing millions of dollars for these vital projects in the state for Fiscal Year 2025.”

In the FY ’24 government funding package, Senator Warnock successfully secured $227 million in direct federal investments for 96 Georgia projects and initiatives through congressionally directed spending requested on behalf of stakeholders across the state.
