Senate Passes Warnock, Ossoff Resolution to Celebrate Fourth Georgia Bulldogs’ National Championship

Senator Warnock and Ossoff are recognizing the University of Georgia’s 2022 football program for their remarkable victory and monumental record

Senator Reverend Warnock: “You make Georgia proud today and every day and I’m happy our bipartisan resolution celebrating Georgia Football’s resilience and dominance made it to the endzone. Go Dawgs!”

Washington D.C. — U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Jon Ossoff’s (D-GA) resolution to congratulate the University of Georgia (UGA) on its fourth national college football championship passed the U.S. Senate last week.

Sens. Warnock and Ossoff introduced the resolution on the heels of UGA’s College Football Championship — making them the first college football team in the playoff era to earn back-to-back national titles. The UGA football team has won four national championships in the last century — in 1942, 1980, 2021, and 2022.

With an impressive season led by head coach Kirby Smart, the Georgia Bulldogs boasted a groundbreaking, undefeated record of 15-0 this season and brought the championship back home to the state of Georgia.

“I want to wish a big congratulations to Coach Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs on winning a second straight national championship,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “You make Georgia proud today and every day and I’m happy our bipartisan resolution celebrating Georgia Football’s resilience and dominance made it to the endzone. Go Dawgs!”

“Congrats to Coach Smart and the Bulldogs,” Sen. Ossoff said. “Go Dawgs! Let’s make it three in a row.”

Earlier in the month, Senator Warnock led members of the Georgia Congressional delegation in a bipartisan, bicameral letter to invite the University of Georgia Bulldogs Football Team to the White House in honor of their national championship victory.
