The bipartisan, bicameral resolution recognizes the victims, condemns the September shooting, and expresses condolences and support to the victims, their families, and the larger Winder community
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and U.S. Representative Congressman Mike Collins (R-GA-10) led a group of their Georgia congressional delegation colleagues in passing a resolution in the Senate that honors the victims of the recent Apalachee High School Shooting. The resolution condemns the tragic shooting while also expressing condolences and support to the victims, their families, and the Winder community.
“The American people are calling for change, Democrats and Republicans, folks in rural spaces and in urban spaces,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “This is a public safety issue, and the American people are calling out for action. They’re calling for sanity, and I believe it’s high time that we do that work.”
The September 4, 2024 attack claimed the lives of two teachers, Cristina Irimie and Richard ‘‘Coach Ricky’’ Aspinwall, and two young students, Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, while injuring nine others.
