Senator Warnock to WGXA: “Rural Georgia is the heartbeat of this state”
Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA) joined McIntyre Mayor Vicki Horne and local community leaders to mark the groundbreaking of the area’s first-ever public sewer system–a critical investment in Wilkinson County’s infrastructure and public health. Last year, U.S. Senators Reverend Warnock and Ossoff secured bipartisan support for $6.3 million in the government’s funding package to help build the project and improve quality of life for families. The Senators’ visit highlights their shared commitment to advocating for investments in infrastructure across every corner of Georgia, and particularly in rural communities. Georgians living in McIntyre and other cities across Wilkinson County currently rely on outdated septic tanks, and local officials have been working to finance a sewer system for more than three decades.
