Senator Reverend Warnock Statement Ahead of President Biden’s Commencement Address at Morehouse College

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA), a 1991 graduate of Morehouse College and the college’s 2022 commencement speaker, issued the following statement on President Joe Biden’s forthcoming address at the college’s May 19 spring commencement ceremony in Atlanta, Georgia:

“Morehouse College is a proud Georgia institution, an incubator for success for young Black men, and a model for colleges nationwide. As a proud alum, I could not be more thrilled to see President Biden return to our great state to deliver this year’s commencement address,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “I’ve been proud to work with the President to deliver for Georgians, including our college students—from securing some $7 billion in investments for our HBCUs and strengthening research and development on those campuses, to canceling some $160 billion in student debt for more than 4 million Americans–further narrowing the racial wealth gap. I know the President will have a timely, poignant, forward-looking message for the Men of Morehouse, and his visit sends a signal of the stature and leadership that Morehouse carries in our country.”
