Washington, D.C. –  Today, U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA), a member of the Senate Commerce committee which oversees national transportation and aviation policy, and U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) announced $675,000 in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding to replace Cobb County International Airport’s traffic control tower equipment. This funding helps ensure the safety of passengers and airport employees, and improves the airport’s efficiency.

“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is making Georgians safer everyday,” said Senator Reverend Warnock.“This funding will replace outdated air traffic control equipment, keeping our skies safe and our communities better connected. I’m proud to secure this funding with Senator Ossoff and I look forward to delivering more federal funding to the Peach State.”

“I’m proud to announce that Senator Reverend Warnock and I have secured funding through the bipartisan infrastructure law for upgrades at Cobb County International Airport,” said Senator Ossoff.“Improving quality of life and creating jobs and opportunity across Georgia is among our top priorities.”

Senator Warnock has long championed securing federal dollars for Georgia’s airports. Last month, Senators Warnock and Ossoff secured $13 million in new federal investments for Georgia airports. In June 2023, the Senator visited Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport to observe progress on federally funded projects at the site, including construction on a security checkpoint expansion, and in 2022, Senator Warnock secured $13.5 million to update nine airports across Georgia, including Augusta Regional Airport and Columbus Airport. Additionally, as a longtime champion for Georgia’s aviation priorities, last year Senator Warnock introduced the AIRWAYS Act to bolster aviation workforce development, as well as other legislative proposals he included in this year’s Commerce Committee-approved FAA reauthorization legislation. In April 2023, Senator Warnock met with local aviation workers and leaders at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport in Chamblee, Georgia to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing folks on the frontlines of the aviation industry. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law included roughly $619 million for Georgia’s airports to improve efficiency, upgrade terminals, and more.
