The $40 million federal investment will bring essential upgrades to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
Funding secured by Senator Reverend Warnock will create 175 jobs
The investment will support the first phase of the Concourse D widening project, announced in July 2022

Washington D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) announced he delivered significant federal investments to upgrade Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport’s Concourse D. Senator Warnock previously championed the inclusion of the investment in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to fund the first phase of the Concourse D expansion project. This phase will create 175 jobs.
“The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport is one of our nation’s most important economic engines,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “I’m pleased to see federal dollars flow to the Airport to alleviate plane traffic, ensuring the busiest airport in the country continues to be a safe and effective hub for air travel.”
Senator Warnock is a champion for Georgia’s airports and has worked successfully to strengthen safe and reliable air transportation for Georgians. In 2021, he announced $6 million in grants from the Department of Transportation to expand and update the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. Also in 2021, the Senator secured $13.5 million to update nine airports across Georgia, including Augusta Regional and Columbus Airport, through the American Rescue Plan.
The Concourse D expansion project will upgrade passenger experience and improve airport efficiency, widening and modernizing the concourse through expanded waiting areas, larger restrooms, improved ADA accessibility, an expanded central concourse corridor, and more.
