Senator Reverend Warnock Statement on the 21st Anniversary of 9/11

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) issued the following statement ahead of the 21st Anniversary of 9/11:

“Twenty-one years ago, nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in a series of horrific terrorist attacks on our soil. On this day of solemn commemoration, I join every American as we pause to remember and mourn those who transitioned into eternity on September 11, 2001, as well as the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to help their fellow citizens. I’m also praying for the parents, partners, children and friends whose lives have been marked by a profound absence for more than two decades.

“As we tend to the painful wounds and terrible memories reopened on this day, let’s also share our gratitude toward the servicemembers, law enforcement officials, firefighters and other emergency responders who work tirelessly to keep us all safe and secure, and who rush to the assistance of Georgians and Americans in need, day in and day out—just like they did on that day. And, let’s remember the patriotic ties that brought the country together. May we never stop working to build our beloved community, and strengthen the covenant we share with one another as an American people.”
