U.S. Senate Confirms Ryan K. Buchanan As U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia

Senators Warnock and Ossoff put forward Buchanan’s nomination to President Biden

Washington, D.C. — This week, the U.S. Senate confirmed U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff’s nominee for a key law enforcement position in Georgia.

Ryan Buchanan was confirmed with bipartisan support to be the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.

President Biden accepted Senators Ossoff and Warnock’s recommendation and nominated Buchanan last year.

“I am very proud to see Ryan Buchanan confirmed as the U.S. Attorney for Georgia’s Northern District,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “As the region’s top federal law enforcement officer, I know he will use his legal expertise to secure justice for Georgians and keep our families safe.”

“It’s essential Georgia have the federal law enforcement officials in place to fight organized crime, defend national security, and defend civil rights. That’s why Senator Reverend Warnock and I worked to expedite the confirmation of Mr. Buchanan to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia,” Senator Ossoff said.

In March of 2021, Senators Warnock and Ossoff formed a historic Federal Nominations Advisory Commission to review applicants for open Federal judicial, U.S. Attorney, and U.S. Marshall positions in Georgia.

Last month, the U.S. Senate confirmed both of Sens. Ossoff and Warnock’s nominees to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
