Senator Reverend Warnock: “Now that there’s bipartisan momentum to get this done, the Senate should prioritize this issue after the Easter break to help millions of Georgians and Americans save money on this life-saving drug”

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Warnock (D-GA) issued the statement below following U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Susan Collins’ (R-ME) unveiling of a new proposal to address the high costs of insulin that includes his Affordable Insulin Now Act that would cap out-of-pocket insulin costs at $35 per month.

“I’m thrilled my bill is included as a provision in my Senate colleagues’ bipartisan proposal that will tackle high insulin costs,” said Senator Reverend Warnock. “Lowering the high costs of insulin is an issue that has strong bipartisan support in Georgia and across the country, and my bill to cap insulin costs at $35 per month passed the House with votes from Democrats and Republicans.”

Senator Warnock added:“Now that there’s bipartisan momentum to get this done, the Senate should prioritize this issue after the Easter break to help millions of Georgians and Americans save money on this life-saving drug.”

In February, Majority Leader Schumer announced that the Senate would take action on Senator Warnock’s insulin costs cap legislation, later adding that the Shaheen-Collins proposal could be joined with Senator Warnock’s bill to create a larger bipartisan legislative package to address insulin costs. Earlier this month, an agreement was reached in principle to include his bill in any future bipartisan insulin legislation.
