Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) released the statement below following the signing of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law. Senator Reverend Warnock, who attended the signing ceremony at the White House, was a champion for the legislation when it passed the Senate last summer, and worked diligently to secure investments and policy changes to address several infrastructure priorities across Georgia—from strengthening federal funding for Georgia’s roads, bridges and public transportation systems, to boosting federal support for Georgia’s ports and waterways, rural broadband expansion, clean energy jobs and more.

“I’ve been saying that America needs a home improvement project to help repair our communities, strengthen our economy and heal our divides—and I’m glad after months of hard work that that day has finally come. This historic, once-in-a-generation investment in our state’s infrastructure needs will create sustainable, good-paying jobs, address the growing impacts of climate change and help move our economy into the future. These are investments Georgians sent me to Washington to deliver, and that’s what we did today.”
“I’m so proud of the policies I helped secure in this package that will help better link Georgia’s military communities from Columbus to Augusta, and the tens of billions of dollars I fought for that will start making their way to Georgia after today to expand public transportation options; boost broadband access and affordability across the state; strengthen our railways, roads and ports to ease supply chain pressures; invest in clean energy technology and jobs to green the nation’s yellow school buses; and so much more. I’m so glad we seized this opportunity for Georgia and didn’t let it slip by, and now I’m going to keep working in Washington to make sure these federal investments start flowing to Georgians and our communities as soon as possible.”
