Senator Warnock urges Senate colleagues to make significant progress on federal voting rights legislation before August recess begins

Washington, D.C. – In an interview with NexStar’s Kellie Meyer last week, Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) urged his Senate colleagues to make significant progress on voting rights – as well as infrastructure – legislation before they depart for August recess.   

“My Democratic colleagues and I aren’t giving up on passing federal voting rights legislation,” Senator Warnock recently reiterated, after his NexStar interview. “I am working with my colleagues to put together a strong voting rights bill. I know we can work on repairing the infrastructure of our communities while we also work to improve the infrastructure of our democracy. We are in a critical moment for our country, and it is imperative that we do both. Voting rights doesn’t sit alongside all the other issues—they are foundational, so I’ll stay as long as necessary in order to get something done.”

Senator Warnock recently met with Leader Chuck Schumer to ensure Congress continues to pursue a path forward to protect access to the ballot box for every eligible voter in Georgia and across the country. Senator Warnock is helping lead the charge to put together a bill that all 50 Senate Democrats, at least, can support, before senators leave for August recess—or until the Senate can get it done.
