The United States Capitol, designed originally to be the center of Washington, is among the most recognizable buildings in the world, as it is the center of the American legislature. Our staff is happy to request a tour of the U.S. Capitol for Georgians. The tours typically last one hour.
The White House is the center of the executive branch and home to the U.S. President. Tours of the White House are able to be requested on a first-come, first-serve basis. As tours of the White House are limited in availability and book up far in advance, we cannot guarantee you a will be granted a tour.
We strongly suggest you submit your tour request at least 90 days in advance to maximize the chances of having your request confirmed. Once a request is submitted, The White House Visitors Office will confirm the availability of the tour directly with you, about 14 days prior to the requested date. These tours are self-guided, so they can be done at your own pace.
Also known as the J. Edgar Hoover Building, is an opportunity to learn more about the important work the FBI does to protect the city and the country. The tour itself will take about two hours. The FBI Experience Tour is also self-guided, so they can be done on your own pace.
See first-hand how the U.S. paper currency, postage stamps, and Treasury notes are made. The tours are 45 minutes long and are generally open from March – August.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts memorializes the president and is the United States National Cultural Center. Our staff would be happy to help arrange a tour for you Monday through Friday. Tours are led by volunteers at the Kennedy Center.
Timed entry passes are available 3 months in advance on the first Wednesday of each month.
The U.S. Supreme Court building is open to the public, and all oral arguments are open to the public (although seating is limited and offered on a first-come, first-seated basis). Free 30-minute Courtroom Lectures are available on weekdays when the Court is out of session or has adjourned.
DC’s premier civic space includes the Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Martin Luther King, Jr., World War II, Korean War Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans Memorials, as well as many Smithsonian museums and galleries. The National Park Service operates these sites, as well as more than 150 statues, circles, fountains, and parks located throughout the Capital.
Located on the Mall, the National Gallery of Art and adjacent Sculpture Garden are open daily and offer free guided or self-guided tours.
The Smithsonian operates 11 museums and galleries on the National Mall, as well as six or other museums and the National Zoo in the DC area.
Tour the Jefferson Building to learn about the history and work of the Library of Congress. The building is open to the public for self-guided or guided tours and gallery talks. Public tours are offered throughout the day and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis without prior reservations.
